U, Me Aur Hum Movie Review
In the current times, when movies depicting seduction, betrayal, infidelity, abuse, divorce, have become the norm rather than exception, a movie like U Me aur Hum is like a whiff of fresh air. Flawed, overrated, passé, call it whatever you like, but love is still probably the only emotion that is worth living for and worth dying for. It’s also nice and romantic to make promises of undying love and countless commitments. But when faced with trials & tribulations --- how many of us make excuses and wriggle out of our responsibilities? That’s what this film is all about.

Dr. Ajay a psychiatrist, meets bartender Piya on a cruise. It is love at first sight for Dr. Ajay. Ajay woos Piya and succeeds. The two get married. They profess everlasting love to each other and vow to be together through thick & thin.

But life is not a bed of roses. Destiny plays a cruel trick on the couple. Piya’s frequent forgetfulness manifests itself as the dreaded Alzheimer’s disease. She gives birth to a child and her illness worsens. Ajay is compelled to shift Piya to a medical care center. But is that what he had promised to his wife? Does he fulfill Piya’s wish to celebrate their 25th anniversary on a cruise? The second half of the film is all about this difficult journey.

Ajay & Kajol give brilliant performances. Their sizzling chemistry is evident in every frame of the film. Ajay has the best lines and Kajol walks away with the best range of emotions.

In my opinion, the movie would’ve had a better impact had it not been narrated as a flashback. The musical score of the film is average. Apart from the Salsa number- Jee le, the other songs are rather forgettable.

To summarize, Ajay Devgan’s directorial debut is certainly watchable but not exceptional.

Following in Aamir Khan’s footsteps, Devgan too has acted, directed and produced the movie.

First think you do is to compare Amir Khan and Ajay Devgun for their directorial debut. The result is Amir wins the match. Not that Ajay has failed. In fact he did a commendable job of his first movie making us wait for his next one.The difference is in essence. Amir created substance with panache whereas Ajay polished the substance which could have been more effective had he curtailed its post interval length.

I tried my best not to carry my hanky as I learnt from various pre movie release reviews. I managed to hold on till the end (My eyes swelled only in the last reel though). I found Ajay having his own mark of direction style with close ups resting on expressions and special effects to convey human feelings although its not a first time in the industry.

Kajol as usual was excellent with all supporting actors ably giving their best. This movie is only for lovers and married couples. Strictly a no no for kids. They will fall asleep watching the movie. Film has his subtle humor which are at the right places.

Overall a Good movie to watch if you are in love. Go see it.
